Recommend a book like The Kingsbridge series

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for novels that cover the span of a life time, where you follow a family/community over a long period of time, character driven and lots of intrigue, mystery and drama. Ken follet is great at writing books like this, I enjoy most his work.

I'm particularly interested in fantasy or historical, but I'll have a look at all recommendations:)
