I’ve had a rough year, I lost two close family members in the last three months. Been feeling pretty down and am dreading the holiday season.

Can you suggest a book that isn’t full of heavy themes, very explicit deaths or future depressing post-apocalyptic world. Some kind of adventure maybe. Fantasy ok, sci-fi ok, fiction and non-fiction ok.

Books I like: The Martian, Project Hail Mary, Into Thin Air, time travel books (read 11/22/62), LOTR,

Couldn’t get into: Dungeon Crawler Carl (felt repetitive). Books where some kind of robot (ai) is basically the protagonist.

    1. Murderbot isn’t as heavy as it might sound. It’s actually pretty amusing and given your other interests you might enjoy it.

    2. Someone beat me to Murderbot, so I’m here to tell you about Johannes Cabal the Necromancer. I got it at my job’s Secret Santa last year and had a blast reading it.

    3. Last Call At The Nightshade Lounge is my personal winner in the category of ‘this is stupid but I’m here for it!’ The plot is too ridiculous to take seriously, but it’s just fun to read anyway.
