Hi,
Looking for fantasy book suggestions for my 12yo son. The main things I know he likes is Harry Potter and anime. His favourite animes are:
- Dragon Ball Z
- One Piece
- Psycho-Pass
- The Adventures of the Amazing Aristocrats
- Demon Slayer
- Jujutsu Kaisen
I'm fine with it being a bit above his age (except nothing sexually explicit).

Does he like Avatar: The Last airbender? The Kyoshi and Yang chen novels are really good and there is nothing questionable in them.
Other than that, Brandon Sanderson is really popular with the teens at my school. He never puts anything sexual in his novels. I haven’t read anything by him, but the kids always recommend Elantris.
I loved the Eragon books at that age. Really great story and world building. It’s not overly-complex, nothing questionable in them.
A ton of kids at the school that like Anime and Manga are getting in to the LitRPG genre. You may do some searches related to that.
I just read The Floating World at the suggestion of our librarian. It was really cute with a very innocent love story. It had a fun magic system and great characters. As far as content, the book literally stops when the characters lean in for their first kiss (so it’s definitely for a younger teen audience).
