Gonna get my dad a book for Christmas, he reads a lot and reads fast so something of good length, he is fairly conservative in his tastes he likes English literature and English history, half his bookshelf is Charles Dickens, Ian Fleming, or history books about or written by Winston Churchill, he also likes Japanese stuff like Eiji Yoshikawa.
something similar to what I've mentioned that is not specifically from the authors mentioned would be great, well written, grounded stories, nothing super abstract. anything written after 1980 would be a safe bet for him having not read it already.
any suggestions would be appreciated.
