They consisted of six books set in an alternate world where Africa instead colonised Europe. The books took place in an alternate England which seemed reminiscent of South Africa. Noughts are white and Crosses are the Black ruling class.

I did like the books but so felt like they focused too little on the world building and more on the characters and their relationships.
The Cross Sephy and Nought Callum (the main characters of the first book) had such a tragic romance that sadly ended with his death. Sephy later gives birth to Callie Rose and we then follow her and her friend Tobey. Jude is a Callum’s brother who dislikes Sephy. He joins this terrorist organisation and dislikes Crosses yet falls in love with a Cross. He kills said Cross he falls in love with. But before he dies, he thinks of her and couldn’t wait to see her. I personally would not like to see the man who killed me in the afterlife but okay.
And then we follow the Nought Tobey in the fourth book. He does a lot of gang stuff. We meet Dan who used to be my favourite character and he is Tobey’s best friend. Then in the fifth book Tobey becomes the first Nought Prime Minister. Troy and Libby are the new Main characters. Troy is Callie Rose’s half brother as Sephy married another. Libby is Tobey’s daughter. They get kidnapped. And we learn that Dan was killed because he slept with a minor and impregnated her. Now he is no longer my favourite character. And Sephy dies, gets to reunite with Callum but I guess everyone lives happily ever after.
Yes. I am upset Dan turned into a monster.

I loved those books. There was a really good TV series as well.
