I have post-book depression. This was easily one of my favorite reads of all time—for SO many reasons.
I wouldn’t typically consider myself a “sci-fi lover” typically, things that are too far out of reality have a bit of difficulty keeping my interest.
What I liked about PHM was:
• ROCKY!!! (Amaze! jazz hands)
• nonhuman intelligence that feels surprisingly emotional and profound
• humans vs. the cosmos
• survival/puzzle against impossible odds
• relentlessly hopeful
• cleverly scientific
• absolutely phenomenal narration, sarcastic, witty, chaotic, and downright funny
I’ve seen some of the following books recommended, but I only have 1 credit on Audible (IYKYK)
• The Martian by Andy Weir (I’ve seen the movie already so I don’t know if the story unfolding would feel the same??)
• Dark Matter by Blake Crouch (I’ve read this one and thoroughly enjoyed it, but not nearly as much as PHM)
• Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky
• Andromeda Strain by Michael Chrichton
• Bobiverse series by Dennis E. Taylor
• Contact by Carl Sagan
Any thoughts for that 1 credit? I feel like an addict chasing my next high. HELP.

You might like Hyperion but it’s a much darker tone. The Dying of the Light by George RR Martin also has a few interesting physics-related themes but is more of a typical Sci-Fi book that doesn’t focus extensively on the sci part.
I’ve heard The Library at Mount Char is very cerebral, but I haven’t read it myself so I can’t vouch for it.
The Long Way To A Small Angry Planet. Everything Becky Chambers writes is phenomenal.
