Hi book friends, my 9 year old nephew who lives across the US from me is autistic, though I’m not familiar enough with ASD to correctly articulate where he falls on that spectrum. I do know that he is wicked smart, extremely energetic, and enjoys music and mathematical things. I don’t want to just get him another toy for Christmas (unless it turns out that is the best idea after all), so I am turning to y’all to maybe help me with some book suggestions, please!

We need to know more about what kind of books he’s interested in
For example of of my favorite fantasy series for kids Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend
For a book about a fellow autistic kid The london eye mystery by Shioban Dowd (a mystery) or Mockingbird by Erskine
A horror book for children that’s quite good is The thief of always by Barker
For scifi at that age I LOVED Asimov’s short stories
If he likes NF like my son, any “Encyclopedia of…” or STEM books that cover things very specifically like illustrated biology, or all about dinosaurs, or something specific in history.
Fiction: The Bad Guys series is fun or if he’s advanced reader he could read The Percy Jackson series.
Hi! My son is autistic and a great reader. I highly recommend graphic novels. If he likes mathematical things, maybe look at the secret coders books by Gene Yang. But there’s so many great ones. Here’s a few:
Any book by Raina Telegmaier. (My kids favorite author when he was that age.)
