Architecture beginner

Hi All,

I'm not a university student or anything, but I have found myself interested in Architecture. I have no idea where to start with leaning more about the basics of architecture.

Any recommendations out there for an easy entry level read for someone with nothing more than a passing interest in how buildings are designed and built and why they are built in these ways?
