This was my reading list for the year, I finished the Dune series, 3 Body Problem, and Project Hail Mary and liked them all to a varying amount.
Dune: Loved the world, especially Paul's story. Got a bit too over the top with Children and God Emperor.
3BP: Enjoyed the first two books (aside from the weird romance in the second), hated the third book for a character that had zero agency and felt poorly written.
PHM: enjoyed this as a light read, thought it was a bit too similar to the Martian, but it still managed to hook me and I powered through it pretty quick. A few gripes sure, but it was a lot of fun.
Now I'm fresh out of books and looking for the next thing to dive into, don't really care if it's a one off or a series.

Rendezvous with Rama by Clarke
_The Left Hand of Darkness_ by Le Guin might be the best sci-fi novel ever written. If you’re looking for series, deeply-considered science fiction, it’s a great pick. It’s about a guy trying to convince a distant planet to join a sort of galactic federation, while trying to understand the radically different culture and worldview of the folks on that planet.
You may also like _A Fire Upon the Deep,_ a wild, multi-genre sci-fi epic that feels comparable to Dune in scale. It’s about a universe where the speed of light changes as you get further from the center of the galaxy
