Hi, I'm a first-time/beginner author, and I want to write a literary fiction novel.
Of course, I've been doing lots of research on it. What I've found is that it's actually very abstract and wide: not wide enough that everything fits, but wide enough that it doesn't take a narrow list of checkboxes to fit into it. That's kind of what I like about it, actually. They're like wide, deep, intelligent books to me.
Of course, there's a lot more to literary fiction and not everything fits into it, but I digress.
Anyways, back to the previous discussion. I saw a site that said that it's more of a writing style and you'll see it when you read it, or something along those lines😉.
So, I thought, instead of endlessly reading about it. I should just read it.
I would like a really well-written literary fiction with romance. Like 1st person POV with good inner dialogue
I want it to be well written in the sense that the writer can write:
-
A genuine connection between love interests. A good balance between the main book and the romance, where romance doesn't take up everything. I don't mind romance being the central thing if it's the actual focus of the book.
-
The author uses their literary knowledge and literary technique to present the book. They have also mastered the "show not tell" aspect of writing
Of course, as the title says, NO smut (my personal decision, not judgment of anyone else's).
