So far, I've only read the classic "No Longer Human" by Osamu Dazai. I'd never read a book in this style before until this one. From what I've gathered, it belongs to a genre called "shishōsetsu," which explores the author's perspective in the first person and is usually a "dark and heartbreaking" story.
I was looking for recommendations for dark Japanese literature in the style of Osamu Dazai. They don't have to be exclusively autobiographies or anything like that, but rather books filled with sadness that address themes like loneliness, sui***cide, and other "forbidden" topics—I'm sure you know what I mean.
Thank you very much in advance!
