Reasons – probably he doesn't have time because he needs to move on (like Martin Eden. I am very interested in books that can show that workaholism can kill), or he has some mental disease and isn't aware of it (like in the film "Machinist" / "Fight club"), or he has some strange theory. The thing is, this state of fatigue gradually breaks him and destroys. He overstrained himself. He loses his mind.
And this hero has been attractive to us since the beginning. And we sympathize with him. And we cry when he is becoming mad.
Please, suggest me this kind of story. Likely, written in the 20th century. This plot should be painful, tragic, hard-breaking.
