Hi all! I'm starting to think about Christmas presents, and I would like to get my nephew (11) a few books. He absolutely devoured the demon slayer manga earlier this year (as in he would read it at lunch during family reunions because he couldn't tear himself away from it for more than ten minutes) and when I asked what he liked about it he said that he liked how fast-paced it was and that it got into the action right away.
He's also complained that many books are boring because nothing happens for the first several chapters, so basically what I'm getting from this is that he likes adventure stories, high stakes and fantastical elements, that it's really important that the pace is fast, particularly at the beginning, and that some level of darkness is welcome (considering how many character deaths and tragic backstories there are in demon slayer).
Any ideas? I've always been a big reader and a fairly patient one, so I'm a bit stumped. He's disliked some of my old favorites, such as Percy Jackson, when I recommended them. Manga recs are also ok, if you have them. If he gets into something he really gets into it (like with demon slayer and some other books when he was younger) but he's generally not a huge reader, so feel free to recommend really popular/mainstream books!
Any recommendation is welcome, but series/prolific authors are particularly welcome, since I'm hoping to help him find his next bookish obsession and to get him reading for pleasure on a regular basis.
