possibly unpopular take, but i gave away most of my books. i have six e-paper tablets from 2012 that i installed android on, and they load pdf's and wikipedia now, and each has a modern sd card with a project gutenberg dump and about 2000 more books.
if you can get your hands on an original B&N nook, you can put android on it, grab a pdf reader, and the old android browser will still open wikipedia and basic html files.

I used to be just like you, a brash no nonsense E-reader guy without a care in the world. I took life by the balls and laughed at people with their papery nonsense.
But I’ve since changed, and mellowed out. I now get such great joy at having a nice copy of a good book. A new copy is divine, that new smell and feel of the paper – but I generally go for used. A pristine hardback is a luxurious experience. I get such pleasure out of it.
The best moments is when you order a used book, and the damn thing is practically new.
Getting my hands on a first edition, even if it’s yellowed, also fills me with delight.
I have clutter sometimes, but my books are never clutter. I like my books.
