    I have the inklings of an idea of a fiction book written like a non fiction history about a made up small town and its various paranormal events. I know this kind of format for a story has to already exist and want to read books similar to this or that can inspire me/help me figure out how to write it.

    I’m interesting in any;

    1. Actual non-fiction history books about small towns. I intend to read a couple local history books as I am going to be heavily inspired by the towns I grew up and live in. I am less likely to read books like this but if people highly recommend it or they’re based off of actual towns with supposed paranormal activity I’d be more interested in reading it.
    2. Non-fiction books that detail supposed paranormal encounters over a extended period of time or area. Bonus if it’s clearly all made up but is being claimed as real.
    3. Books that are 1 and/or 2 but are in fact fictional.

    I’ll look into anything else that doesn’t qualify as those of course, if you think they will be helpful.

    For this research, I only have these books on my to-read list;

    1. The Secret History of Twin Peaks by Mark Frost (already read).
    2. Communion by Whitley Strieber
    3. The Mothman Prophecies by John Keel

      The Ghost in the Burbs podcast. Not a book, but she presents it in a way as if it is based on true stories. Then she builds from there.
