I'm interested in economics in general and I want to learn more about Japan as it has unusually high debt levels. Most of this debt is bought domestically and a lot of it by the Bank of Japan. So that is what I want to understand better – the macroeconomy and specifically monetary policy in Japan. But ideally I don't want to read a long economic history of Japan (though I'm sure that would be fascinating) – I'm more curious about how things work today.
