Looking for a recommendation for my dad. He is a very well read lover of bleak literature. He loves books about rural America and difficult lives. His favorite books/ authors are anything by Cormac McCarthy and Winter's Bone by Daniel Woodrell. Looking for things that have come out recently as he already has pretty much everything that's been around for a few years.
