My absolute favorite niche corner of sci-fi is: shadowy government (or non-goverment) organization dealing with cosmic horror.
Think the Southern Reach Trilogy, There Is No Antimemetics Division, or to a lesser degree, Blindsight.
Jonesing for something else in that realm. Anyone got a rec?

You might enjoy the Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins. It’s a bit more urban-fantasy/cosmic horror, but based on what you’ve liked I’d rec it.
