Hey, I'm obsessed with that specific kind of story where everything goes sideways and people have to figure out how to live again. I need books that hit these two sweet spots. Help a reader out! 🙏
- The 'The Society' Mess (Total Power Vacuum): I'm talking about books where a group (especially teens/young adults) suddenly finds themselves totally isolated and alone—like, the adults are gone, the government is gone, and they have to build their own sh*t from the ground up.
I live for the drama: the instant cliques, the terrible new rules, the Lord of the Flies energy, and watching society collapse because people are terrible (even when they're trying to be good).
¡Vibes check!: Who gets the power? Who makes the rules? How fast does it all go to heck?
- The 'The Last of Us' Grind (Gritty, Green Apocalypse): Give me the intense, character-driven survival stories where the world is beautifully broken and super dangerous. The journey is everything, I want those grim road trips across the wasteland, the desperate search for supplies, the morally gray choices, and that amazing "found family" bond that forms when the world is ending. The more nature has reclaimed the world, the better. (Bonus points for unique apocalypse causes!)
Vibe check: What would you do to survive? How much are you willing to lose for one other person?
Drop your absolute best book recommendations below! I'm ready to dive into some dystopian chaos. Thanks, guys!
