Suggestion for 12 year old girl without parent trauma/loss or sexual themes

Hi everyone, trying to find a book or two to gift a child who will be 13 in a few months.

She has lost both parents and I don’t want to bring up that trauma while trying to get her more into reading. She tried Harry Potter but couldn’t get into it, I think due to the family death.

She loves Wednesday the show, I think for the portrayal of a loving yet kooky family. Hoping for books that evoke perhaps the magic and fantasy of the show without much family trauma.
