I asked my friend what she’s currently reading so I could fined a book for her for Christmas. Except she told me she needs to get back into reading and proceed to list shows she likes 😅 so is there a good book out there with black mirror vibes?

“Girlfriend on Mars” and “Land of Milk and Honey” were two of my favorite reads last year.
Ted Chiang – Exhalation and Stories of Your Life – both short story collections
The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley
The Carls by Hank Green — Near future sci-fi duology. Reads a lot like the Black Mirror episodes about social media.
451 Fahrenheit
Wayward Pines by Blake Crouch or his other novels.
The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula K Le Guin
Scanner Darkly – Phillip K. Dick. The movie is also a good watch.
The Paper Menagerie by Ken Liu
I’m currently 3/4 the way through it but it is the most black mirror book of all time. It’s a 450 plus page short story collection. Mostly sci-fi but with some big government deep state stories. It’s also written through a Chinese/Asian perspective so that makes it even more interesting! There was one I just read the other night called The Literomancer that absolutely blew me away. Like it’s 38 pages and I felt more in that story than I have in most novels. He also wrote the Dandelion Dynasty books. I have been reading one a night and I have not read a bad one yet.
Currently reading “the dream hotel” by Laila Lalami, and it definitely fits that vibe.
