Hello everyone! I'm looking for something with a truly heinous female character, any genre. She doesn't have to be the main but predominant in the plot, bonus points if it's from her POV. It's not fair the super evil ones are always men.

I'm talking Frank from wasp factory, David from Library at Mount Char, Judge Holden, Griffith, AM, etc. Cathy Ames is a good example of what I'm looking for but she is hot so negative points for that.

Just irredeemable and not sexy!! Every female villain is sexy like come on you do not need that skintight black leather whatever. Thanks y'all have a good one!

Edit: GUYS IM TALKING HAG, all these wonderfully evil ladies are hot.

    1. The Book of Doors by Gareth Brown has a good female villain who is truly evil. It is not from her POV but she is a large part of the story.

i can’t remember her name but Misery by Stephen King.

Or Amy from Gone Girl but i guess she violates the non sexy rule.

None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell. The main character is absolutely vile. What Lies Between Us by John Marrs has two women who compete for who’s worse. Both of those books also have EXTREMELY unreliable narrators.

*The Life and Loves of a She-Devil* by Fay Weldon

      > A story about a highly unattractive woman who goes to great lengths to take revenge on her husband and his attractive lover

You could argue that Cersei from A Game of Thrones meets that criteria. And the character is nuanced in that she’s not “just evil”, she has her motivations and reasons for being angry, bitter, relentless, conniving, etc….

And those reasons are not necessarily bad reasons. You might just not agree with the execution…

The main character is not evil or hot, but she is brutal and does some horrifying things:

The Salt Grows Heavy by Cassandra Khaw

What I’ve found more often, though, is that “good” women are young and beautiful and evil women are old, ugly, or both.

Edit: The main character of An Elderly Lady is Up to No Good by Helene Tursten is…an elderly lady who murders people. I didn’t make it through the first book because I found it misogynistic, but I’ve heard that’s just a problem with the translation.

    7. Love Murder. It’s book two of a three part series. First book is The killing Lessons. Anyway, Katherine Glass shows up in book two. She’s a pill for sure. excellent character.

Fear Nothing by Lisa Gardner. Not a main character but a secondary with quite a bit of time. Her name is Shana Day.

I haven’t read it but I’ve heard that Nurse Ratched from One flew over the cuckoo’s nest

I found the main character in Yellowface to be absolutely horrible, in character and deed. Even more twisted, it’s from her POV.
