I’m trying to wrap up my reading goal for the year and I’m falling a bit short. Lately I’ve been really loving horror novels where the protagonist is thrust into a world that’s completely alien to them, or where parallel universes bleed into the story. I love the tension of wondering if the mail characters will ever find themselves back at hint or in their own reality.
Some recent favorites: A Staircase in the Woods, We Used to Live Here, and The Hollow Places, Dark Matter.
I’d love more recommendations with a similar vibe (creepy alternate realities, dimension-hopping, uncanny otherworlds, that kind of thing.) Really love when the story is very immersive as opposed to just gory.
Thanks!
