Im looking for a novel with strong, dark religious/sacrilegious themes. Human sacrifice, evil people, corrupted priests, church imagery etc would be appreciated if possible.

Its for my brother. He said he liked blood meridian by Cormac McCarthy and said he'd like similar, dark gritty novels.
