have not read a book since high school and I’m a 25 year old man. I’m really into movies and video games cause I love a good story but just haven’t decided to pick up a book and read. For movies I’m very into the imdb top 100 so I’m looking for something like that for books. Some that I’m already considering to get a taste of my interest are American psycho, dune, the hobbit, and Dante’s inferno. I’m interested in some pretty out there things but I’d say I’m a pretty basic guy so any suggestions help!

I typically ready short, shitty romance books so for a book that isn’t in the genre has too really stand out.
My favorites are:
Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnegut
The Exorcist by William Blatty
The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien
Those are all good. Though you will want an edition of Dante’s Inferno with a good guide.
Basically you can’t go wrong with any of the classics. They have lasted so long for a good reason as they are not only compelling and have complex and psychologically deep characters, but they also have universal human lessons and truths.
Crime and Punishment is a good one to start with. Very compelling and feels like it goes very quick. Frankenstein. Anything that makes you want to learn more and keep reading rly.
