Given the great help I got here on finding books to buy my son for Christmas/Birthday, I thought I'd ask on behalf of my brother for the same purposes, see what comes up.
He's a fan of David Gemmel, Bernard Cornwell, and similar. He likes low fantasy or historic settings (apparently I am allowed only one flair though so I had to pick one) and moral ambiguity (heroes who are flawed, antiheroes, factions that are neither good or evil but depend on your point of view). Swordplay and martial realism in pre-industrial settings are also hits.
Unlike my son, I don't know his entire collection, so new books would be preferable to reduce the chance he had already read it.
Thanks for any advice anyone can give!
