My coworkers and I are looking for recommendations for our book club. We are aiming for something that is not only a good read, but also a good movie. Mainly looking for either Sci fi/fantasy or historical fiction.
Carl Sagan’s sci-fi **Contact**, although the endings differed and the movie played up the romance more.

“Jurassic Park” was a really fun book, and the movie was great. Still holds up IMO.
