My dad lost seven people, three of which were close friends, and one of which passed in his arms this year. It's an unthinkable/unimaginable amount of grief that he seems to be in denial about- probably due to old school masculinity. He insists he's fine, but we have heard him break down in private. I'm looking for books that are not explicitly about grief or loss but might have touched upon themes of grief, loss, or just living in general.

All I can think of is Meditations by Marcus Aurelius.

I’m so sorry for your dad. We had a year like that. We lost 9 people and 3 pets in 14 months. We stopped answering the phone.

What I’m saying is that grief is weird. Stoicism helps, especially when it’s so big.

    2. At school when I was 16 we read the ridiculous idea not to see you again by Rosa Montero. It mainly focuses on a woman who lost her husband and uses Marie Curie’s diaries as a way to explain everything.

It struck me deeply at 16

Hamnet, maybe you could ask him to join you for the movie adaptation in theaters now.
