I'm fascinated by the collapse of the Soviet Union and want to read a book that captures that moment in history. I'm open to different perspectives, whether it's a historical overview, a political analysis, or a personal story that shows what everyday life was like during the transition.
I've heard good things about books like Secondhand Time by Svetlana Alexievich for oral history, but I'd love more suggestions.
Can anyone recommend a compelling and informative book, fiction or nonfiction, about the end of the USSR?

It’s an enormous topic with many different interpretations in historiography. Given its recency, it also is a prominent topic in political science. I recommend you search for a bibliography instead of a book.
Also, I recommend you look up “grand strategy”.
