This might be a really strange request—I don't even know what to put in the title—but my favorite books are ones that'll really make you sit and think, that'll get stuck in your head and leave you with a weird little feeling of something like dread but not quite. I don't know the right word for it. Something that'll make you really contemplate deeper substances like existence and the human mind.
Some of my favorite works that fit the bill are Flowers for Algernon (Daniel Keyes), The Metamorphosis (Franz Kafka), and others in that category, but they still don't exactly scratch this itch that I have for something deeper.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
