Therapy doesn't work on me. Don't want to talk about that.
I just want to read books to be hopeful naturally and get over sadness, loneliness, depression, boredom, monotony, etc.
Series or single books…. doesn't matter. Books that will have a deep, moving, lasting impact on me … Will make me think deeply about the story even hours after reading the chapters.
Just suggest me books that will change my mood for the better… And no romance books please.
Thanks!

Age and gender??
I thought The Lost Dogs, by Jim Gorant, was very hopeful. It’s about how the dogs damaged in Michael Vick’s dogfighting ring were mostly reclaimed. I mean, the way dogfighting trainers treat their dogs is really abusive. It makes the dogs psychotic. And yet many if not most of the dogs were given new hope and new lives. It’s very uplifting and unforgettable (it’s been years since I read it, so that’s how you know it’s unforgettable lol)
The short story, [Liturgy of Light](https://www.thesunlightpress.com/2025/10/28/liturgy-of-light/), is very hopeful and reminiscent of the holiday season.
The Book of Form and Emptiness by Ruth Ozeki
Just finished Loading… Education Not Found and WOW. Every parent needs to read this. I had no idea how much screen time our kids are actually getting in class. This book opened my eyes and lit a fire in me.
If you’re open to very long books, I recommend [The Hands of the Emperor](https://share.google/ID8EUnwDjqkoB35LB) by Victoria Goddard. It’s a beautifully written slice of life book about the personal secretary to the emperor of the world, with a heavy focus on platonic relationships.
