Hi, I'm looking for book recommendations for my dad. He has been learning English for a few years now, but he started when he was around 50. His level is somewhere between A2 and B1. He has already read those thin beginner's books (Penguin Readers, etc.), but he wants to read proper books now.
He has already read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and The Terrible Thing That Happened to Barnaby Brocket, and he enjoyed them. So, could you please suggest a book of a similar difficulty, but aimed at older readers? If that helps in his native language, he enjoys detective novels — that's why I picked The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time — but he is afraid he won't understand the plot in English.
