I love reading non-fiction, but I feel like I only read the same 3 topics over and over again (fat liberation, feminism, autism) and I'm very interested in these topics, but I would like to become more well rounded, at least in my reading, so I'm curious what other people's favorite non-fiction books/authors are.
Only a few topics I know I won't read:
-War in general, but especially Nuclear War (scary)
-Meat/Food Processing, Parasites and Illness (gross)
-True Crime (scary and gross)
I'm especially interested in suggestions for books on:
-Etymology
-Exercise Sciences (both books about the mechanics of exercise and fitness, books about the history of certain sport, and books about specific athletes)
-Environmental Sciences
-Law (are there good non-fiction books for the layman on this, or should I just commit to a textbook? Textbooks are so expensive though, and most libraries don't actually let you check them out in my experience)
-Psychology and Sociology (but not autism! I have enough books about autism in my collection)
-Political Science
But I'm not hard and fast on only these categories, bc I wouldn't be doing a very good job of expanding my world view if I didn't take suggestions, lol.

Rachel Aviv’s _Strangers to Ourselves_ is great and really asks important questions about mental health/illness.
There’s another book titled _Strangers to Ourselves_ by Timothy Wilson, about the neuroscience unconscious mind, that I found fascinating (someone recommended the Aviv, I got confused and read the Wilson [and then the Aviv when I realized my mistake] and was glad I read both)
