Suggest a book that was a required reading in college that you ended up loving

I recently finished The trial and death of socrates: four dialogues by Plato and Farewell to manzanar by Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston, and I really enjoyed them. I’d love to find more books I might not have heard of before or wouldn’t usually pick myself. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
