Need recs: short, modern, easy-to-read books (post-2000) with clean content

Hey everyone!!
I’m looking for must-read modern fiction books but not Sci-Fi (published after 2000) that are short, easy to read, and written in simple, straightforward language.
I’d prefer books without heavy vulgar/erotic content since I’m planning to gift one.

Any suggestions for great, clean, modern, short reads?
