Hi! I’m normally a very avid thriller reader, but lately I’ve been branching into more contemporary/literary/upmarket fiction — and I’m realizing how much I love books that are character-driven, emotional, and still super readable.
Here are some recent fiction reads I’ve loved:
- Small Great Things
- All the Ugly and Wonderful Things
- I Hope This Finds You Well
- Atmosphere
- Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow
- The Wedding People
- After I Do
- The Three Lives of Cate Kay
- Beartown
- Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine
- Eliza Starts a Rumor
- My Dark Vanessa
If you have recommendations that fit these vibes, I’d love to hear them.
Thanks in advance 💛📚

Some of your favorites are mine as well!
I recommend The Glass Castle- Jeanette Walls. It’s a memoir, not fiction, but the writing sucks you in. It’s All the Ugly/Elinor Oliphant mixed.
Fredrik Bachman’s other novels are great. My faves are My Grandmother Asked Me To Tell She’s Sorry, Anxious People, and A Man Called Ove (avoid the movie with Tom Hanks, it was trash).
White Oleander- Janet Fitch
The Poisonwood Bible- Barbara Kingsolver. The premise turned me off, and I almost didn’t read it. But, it’s one of my favorites of all time.
