as the title suggests, i'm looking for some recommendations for books that focus more on emotions, feelings, thoughts, ambience, over the plot. some of my favorites are A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith, Commonwealth by Ann Patchett, and 11/22/63 Stephen King. I prefer period pieces over contemporary, like the early 1900s-1980s. I want books where it's almost hard to describe the plot because that's not the main focus of the book. If you really want to deeply understand what I mean, read the first chapter of Commonwealth, that's the exact tone, vibe, decade, feeling I love. Thanks!!!

If you like romance, it sounds like you might enjoy Colleen Hoover. I read a REALLY good book by her, one of my favorites, and as you suggested it focuses more on emotions/thoughts than the plot. But I cant remember the title, sorry
