Hi all!
I normally listen to Stephen Fry’s reading of Harry Potter to sleep, but I fancy a change and I have a audible token to use.
Are there any books you can recommend which are actually much better as audios that keep that whimsical Harry Potter feel – that are also narrated by someone with a voice that’s easy on the ears?
Thanks in advance!

Project Hail Mary
*The Night Circus* is read by Jim Dale, who reads the US versions of the Harry Potter audiobooks, and he’s fantastic!
The way of kings by brandon sanderson has two great narrators and is plenty long so great bang for your audio token buck
Dungeon crawler Carl
Ready Player One – narrated by Wil Wheaton
WWZ – narrated by a bunch of celebrities, also very good.
Anne of Green Gables on the Slumber App – on my third listen, not kidding, it’s so good. After the first listen, I went on to Anne of Avonlea and then Anne of the Island, then back to the original.
Never read the book until recently, and it’s word for word such great peaceful positive books 📚
I loved Crying in H Mart audiobook… narrated by the author
Any of Joe Abercrombie’s books narrated by Stephen Pacey.
The Dexter series was way more entertaining as audio!
The Rob Inglis Lord of the Rings
Already saw Project Hail Mary here, but I’ll add anoyher Andy Weir book: The Martian. Specifically becaise most of the book is written as logs in a journal, you get a good feel for the main character’s frustration and exhaustion.
The Cradle series by Will Wight, narrated by Travis Baldree. Fun, fast-paced, ‘progression fantasy’, with a great cast of characters, creative world building, and an epic story told over the course of 13 books. If you’ve ever enjoyed an anime like One Piece, DBZ, Naruto, or any shonen or like AvatarTLA, you’ll enjoy this series, though it’s certainly its own thing, so not at all a requirement! In a highly magical world, Lindon is forbidden from studying the ‘sacred arts’ of his clan, and must head out on an adventure into the wider world to forge his own path.
The first book is Unsouled.
I think Nothing to See Here by Kevin Wilson is so good. It’s unconventional humor and the narrator, Marin Ireland, makes it so much funnier.
Jim dale reading Harry Potter is good. Jim dale reading anything is good. I have his Peter Pan and Alice in wonderland. They’re delightful listens. I also like Rosalyn Landor’s voice. She does a ton of books but I know her from the Sophie Kinsella books (not the shopoholic books). I think she also reads some fantasy/whimsical books too. I’d check out her offerings on audible (or wherever you get audiobooks).
