Today I learned that the United States had a universal childcare program during WW2 funded through the Lanham Act of 1940, and I am gobsmacked but it also makes a lot of sense.
Has anyone read anything really good on this? I would love a work of historical fiction that is enjoyable to read, but would also appreciate suggestions for any nonfiction informative books on the topic.
