I’m looking for a nice book to give my mom as a gift. Since I only recently got into reading, I don’t know many good books or authors yet. She has read most of the classics, so it should be something a bit more niche.
She really enjoyed Klara and the Sun by Ishiguro, and she generally likes books about people experiencing some kind of hardship, whether in their community or in their personal and family lives. I know she’s interested in stories about marginalized groups, feminism, and different cultural or national contexts.
She also likes reading about the Second World War because she’s writing a historical book about it herself. Stories from that time would interest her as well, but it’s important that they are real stories, not just non-fictional information.
Additionally, she cares a lot about good writing. She is just very educated and well read so I’m struggling with my limited knowledge.
I hope somebody has a good idea for a book cause I am really at such a loss.
