I love reading sci-fi, but I’m realising that my bookshelf is mostly filled with the classics and not so much more recent authors. So I’m looking for recommendations for novels by the newest names in science fiction, preferably authors whose debut novel was published this year or maybe last year.

Books I’ve loved that might give you an idea of my tastes:

“The Dispossessed” and “The Word for World is Forest” by Ursula K Le Guin.

“Dune” and “Dune: Messiah” by Frank Herbert.

    “Altered Carbon” by Richard Morgan.

    “Mutant” by Henry Kuttner.

    “Hiero’s Journey” by Sterling Lanier.

    “Ancillary Justice” by Ann Leckie.

I’m also not really looking for what could be referred to as “cozy sci-fi”, having tried a couple of Becky Chambers’ books and not really enjoying them. Thanks in advance!
