Three Body Problem: Great read, classic sci-fi I would say, plus the drama they released for it a couple years ago was good.

MurderBot series: Lighter and witty, plot kinda like Detroit Become Human if you’ve ever played that game, also humor reminds me of The Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy which is also a great sci-fi read.

Geek Love is good, it’s more laboratory sci-fi than space and aliens

The Left Hand of Darkness: I thought it was kinda slow but very emotionally well written

Southern Reach Trilogy by Jeff VanderMeer

      Shadow Man- Melissa Scott

Great standalone is “House of Suns” by Alastair Reynolds. It has great flow and reads like a fantasy book without leaning too much into the science and tech. Reynolds has a PhD in Astrophysics so he has a grasp on things and doesn’t feel the need to overshare the complexity of EVERYTHING. Tchaikovsky is also a great place to jump in. Then you can find if you like the tech side then you can go for the more scientific scifi, or you can lean more towards scifantasy and space operas. If you want a weird one, try Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer.

I recently got sucked into The Foundation series. You can read these ‘chronologically’ or read in order of publication. Extremely easy enjoyable reads.
