Historical horror?

I’m (trying to) broadening my reading and I’m intrigued by the horror genre, but I really only read historical and some fantasy.

I prefer renaissance and earlier time periods, and don’t want either WW.

I also prefer female main characters.

I did love Slewfoot so some colonial, witches, etc is totally on the table.

Any suggestions?
