Hi. Just a short Sunday afternoon rant here. I'm familiar with trigger warnings but so far I haven't found one that helps to screen out books where a dog, cat or other pet that's introduced to the story is later killed, or any other animal cruelty, abuse, etc.

I've gotten to the point that when an animal like that is introduced in the story line I just stop reading the book. I do the same with TV shows and movies.

This trope is heavily over-used and I'm fed up with it!!!!!

    1. Does The Dog Die started for movies, but they now include books, tv shows, stage musicals, and other media–since it’s user submitted, they may not have all books you want to check, but it’s worth a shot?

    2. I’m genuinely curious. Are you really that sensitive? You literally can’t read a book or watch a show or movie on the off-chance that an animal may be harmed? What about harm to people? Does that not matter? If it does, how do you read/watch anything?

    3. Are you kidding? Check goodreads. ANY book with any level of animal abuse / cruelty will get downvoted to hell. Authors are terrified to hurt animals these days.

    4. Storygraph has user-submitted trigger warnings for most all books on their platform, it is very thorough.
