Something along the lines of what Die Hard is to Christmas movies (I actually haven’t seen it but afaik it’s more about the action/other stuff going on; Christmas serves as a backdrop).
I’m planning to read Eileen by Ottessa Moshfegh, which seems to fit the bill – any other recs?
Open to different genres, just anything different to the traditional heartwarming Christmas books!

The Shepherd by Frederick Forsyth novella that takes place on Christmas Eve.
In Canada, it has been broadcast on the CBC each year on Christmas Eve since the late 1970s.
N0S4A2 is definitely Christmasy, I’m not sure if it actually takes place during Christmas
Hercule Poirot’s Christmas by Agatha Christie that takes place during the holidays, with very little mention of actual Christmas
I made the website for HeatherHavenmysteries.com so full disclosure I have not read all of her books. But I do know that she has some christmas-themed murder mysteries. Like I said I haven’t read the Christmas ones but I have read some of her others and her books are funny and fun. She writes for a very San Francisco audience so I don’t think that she would lean into the Christmas aspect into corny or cliche of a way.
If you’re interested I’ll try to find the page when I’m not on mobile.
