I’m searching for a good book to get my mom for Christmas. I recommended she read East of Eden by John Steinbeck, and she absolutely fell in love with it. So now I am wondering if any of you that have read East of Eden, do you know of any other books that brought the same kind of feeling? Or a book that she may like similar

Lonesome Dove. I have not read this yet but it’s almost always suggested for this inquiry!
I really liked Pillars of the Earth. I too am a fan of East of Eden
Edna Ferber’s family sagas such as Giant (which also starred James Dean in the movie) and Come and Get It.
East of Eden is one of my favorite books of all time. That being said, other books I enjoyed personally and will always recommend are:
Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stewart
Independent people by Haldor Laxness
The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak
Other great books by Steinbeck are In Dubious Battle and tortilla flat. The grapes of wrath people love but it’s not my favorite by him.
The Eighth Day by Thornton Wilder. One of my favorite books, won the National Book Award.
Pachinko (b/c follows the life of characters)
Angle of Repose by Wallace Stegner.
There’s nothing better than East of Eden! I second Pillars and will add Of Human Bondage!
