Michael Connelly, in chronological order.
I love the In Death series by JD Robb it takes place in a near future (2058) in NYC, not sure if these are avail as audiobooks
It’s fiction but The Gold Finch by Donna Tartt hits many of those elements. NYC, crime, etc. It’s a bizarre and overly long book but it is written in a way that stays with you.
My 60-something mom LOVES Harlan Coben. She mostly reads books from the local library.
