I know it’s difficult to narrow an entire journey/success story down to one book, but I’m still searching for that book that can help transform my life and the way I think.

I’ve had a terrible 2025. It’s by far the most challenging year I’ve had. I’m ending the year after leaving the most toxic job I’ve ever had, one that genuinely made me sick and that I’m still recovering from. Also just got out of the most toxic relationship of my life. I’m currently living off my savings, procrastinating on certifications I need to complete, and I might be dealing with ADHD, anxiety, and some depression.

I love reading, and the one thing I gifted myself was an e-reader. I had to sell all my books to make some money. It was painful, but it had to be done.

I know I still have some willpower and positivity left in me, but I’m scared I’ll run out if I don’t find the right book to help pull me out of this hole. I worry about ending up in a really dark place if I don’t manage to pick myself back up. I truly am trying my best. One thing I’m grateful for is that I still love reading, and that hasn’t left me.

If you could choose ONE BOOK, that genuinely helped you shift your mindset or get through a difficult period, which one would it be? And why?

Thank you for taking the time, truly. And hope you have a wonderful 2026. Hoping for the best, onward and upward!✨

PS: Before anyone feels tempted to be harsh, please understand that we’re all just trying to live our lives the best way we can. Some of us are genuinely trying, and things still don’t work out. I do believe it can get better from here, and I’m working toward that. Please be kind.

Honestly, Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn.

Its fiction and has absolutely nothing to do with mindset or self help, but it helped me get out of a dark place.

The story is told in a fresh, unique way, and while it’s not perfectly light hearted it’s a lot of fun.
