I’ve really gotten into Rufi Thorpe over the past few years, especially her earlier books like Girls from Corona Del Mar and Dear Fang. They have really stuck with me over the years- the way they’re so readable and have a perfect pace, and the characters are lifelike, intriguing, and go in crazy life paths as they age. They have haunted my mind. Knockout Queen too.

But I’m also a guy and don’t want to forever stay in a girl’s mind.

Peter Clines’ 14 is another awesome book I think of a lot, in almost a parallel universe as her. Obviously it’s a different genre but it’s like: life swallows you up, and speeds exponentially, one day you’re seeing suspicious cockroaches in your apartment the next you’re in a Lovecraft time warp.

I’ll eat up whatever Thorpe puts out next. I’ve gotten a bit tired of Clines but loved the structure writing and atmosphere in 14. Any recommendations for me?

    Thanks in advance!
