I read 1491 by Charles Mann and enjoyed it a lot, the mix of accurate historic research and an accessible writing style.
I'd love to find similar books for other world regions, could be continents or countries. The span of the book is centuries and millenniums, rise and fall of nations, that's what I'm looking for, not single expeditions or novels of single persons. Ideas appreciated.

*The Dawn of Everything* by Graeber & Wengrow covers much of early humanity.
*The Story of Civilzation* series by Will & Ariel Durant covers just about everything in Western Europe up through Napoleonic times.
The sequel, 1493, is more global in scope.
